Road Swiping Materials
B.S.I. srl, with the support of its long time experience, is continuousli developing process lines for the treatment and recovery of materials coming from road swiping, marked with code EWC 200303, to prevent their total disposal in the landfill.
These systems are oriented to services companies that offer support to Municipalities, Agencies, Transport Companies, with the goal to supply a solution that allows to increase the percentage waste selection and re-use, reducing the amount of unsorted waste sent to landfill.
The treatment of road swiping waste consists of a sequence of operations of washing and separation of materials, using a technology similar to that of the soil washing, to allow recovery of the inert material, about 60% of the waste input, that can be re-used in the construction sector (secondary raw materials for concrete or asphalts).
Other secondary materials can be reused as compost (organic waste) and metallic raw materials (iron).
The pollutants and the solid fraction (silt, clay) present in the treated material, are transferred from the solid phase to the liquid phase; this process generates a waste water flow, that contains suspended solids and pollutants, that is sent to the purification and clarification process. The clarified water is reused, in close cycle, in the washing process, while the solid (deyidrated) sludge obtained in the process of clarification, containing the pollutants, are sent to disposal in the landfill.
Fine inorganic waste, mixed waste and dehydrated sludge should be disposed of in landfill. The cost of the treatment plant for residues from sweeping the road is economically viable and competitive when compared to the cost of disposal in the landfill and, at the same time, generates important and significant benefits to the environment.
