Contaminated sludge treatment

B. S. I. srl has invested its experience in the development of treatment lines for contaminated sludge with inert/inorganic Matrix, resulting from excavation and/or recovery processes, with the aim of drastically reducing the amount of waste to be delivered to landfill.

The treatment, through an intensive washing and a contemporary series ofmechanical on the material, obtained through the use of special dedicated machines, allows to transfer the pollutants present in sludge (CrVI and hydrocarbons in the first place) from the solid phase to the liquid phase along with the inert fraction (silt, clay). In the liquid phase, the contaminants tend to bind to the finest inert fraction, allowing the recovery of the inert fraction with coarser particle size (sands and gravels), that may be sent to re-use.

The waste water resulting from the intensive washing treatment, where suspended solids and pollutants are now concentrated, is sent to the treatment of purification and clarification.

The clarified water is reused in the washing process by a closed cycle loop, while the sludges obtained in the process of clarification, containing the pollutants, after dehydration, are sent to disposal to landfill.

The water contained in the sludge to be treated and those of the process in excess, are sent to a suitable plant for finishing treatment of the wastewater (pH control, sand filters, activated carbon filters) and can be discharged in standard surface waters.

In order to manage sludge of various nature and composition, difficult to contain and manage, B. S. I. has developed a series of devices specifically oriented to the treatment of fluid sludge. Thanks to the continuous developmet applied to our devices, it is possible to control and measure the supply of sludge to the plant, optimizing the efficiency of the process.
